Audi is a German manufacturer which is now owned by the Volkswagen group. Audi’s origins date back to 1910 with the founding of Auto Union which later became Audi. The company name is based on the Latin translation of the surname of the founder, August Horch meaning "listen" in German. The four rings of the brand each represent one of four car companies that banded together to create Audi's predecessor company, Auto Union.
Audi India was established in 2007 with headquarters in Mumbai. It was founded under a part of Volkswagen group in India which was also established that year. Even though Audi was selling cars in India since 2004, it was in 2007 that they set up their own sales brand with facilities in India.
